Sending a pallet from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast is simple once you know what the carrier needs from you. This guide covers every step, from measuring and wrapping the pallet to what happens overnight and how it is delivered at the other end. It applies whether you are sending one pallet from a Brisbane warehouse to a Maroochydore shop, a regular load from an Eagle Farm distribution centre to Caloundra, or building supplies from Richlands to a site in Noosa or Gympie.
Step 1: Measure and weigh the pallet
Freight is priced on size and weight, so accurate figures get you an accurate price. Measure the pallet including the pallet base:
- Length and width at the widest points, including any overhang.
- Height from the floor to the highest point of the load, including the pallet itself (a standard pallet base is around 15 cm high).
- Weight of the whole pallet, including the pallet base, wrap and strapping. A standard timber pallet weighs around 25 to 35 kg on its own.
Most Brisbane to Sunshine Coast pallet freight is charged on the greater of the actual weight and the cubic weight. Our cubic weight calculator works out both for you.
Step 2: Build the pallet properly
- Stack cartons square to the edges of the pallet, with the heaviest items at the bottom.
- Avoid overhang. Cartons hanging over the edge are the most common cause of crush damage.
- Keep the top flat where possible so the pallet can be handled safely.
- Shrink-wrap the load to the pallet base, not just around the cartons, and add strapping for heavy or unstable loads.
- Use a sound pallet. Broken boards or missing blocks can collapse under a forklift.
See how to package freight so it arrives undamaged for more detail.
Step 3: Label it on two sides
Put a label on at least two sides of the pallet showing the receiver’s name, delivery address, suburb and postcode, phone number and the number of pallets in the consignment (for example “1 of 2”). Remove or cover any old labels so the pallet cannot be sent to the wrong place.
Step 4: Check the pickup and delivery sites
Tell us when you book if either end has no forklift, so we can send a vehicle with a tailgate. Also tell us about receiving hours, narrow driveways, height limits or anything else the driver needs to know. If the pallet is going to a home rather than a business, read business vs residential delivery first.
Step 5: Book the pickup
Send us the pickup suburb, delivery suburb, number of pallets, dimensions and weights through our quote form. We reply with a price and transit time the same business day. Regular senders can set up a standing daily or weekly Brisbane pickup on a credit account.
What happens next
- Brisbane pickup. We collect from your warehouse, store or supplier anywhere in the Brisbane metro area, from the northside industrial areas to the southside, western suburbs, bayside and the port.
- Overnight linehaul. The pallet travels north overnight to our depot in Yandina on the Sunshine Coast.
- Sorted at Yandina. It is cross-docked onto the right local delivery run early the next morning.
- Delivered. Our local drivers deliver across the Sunshine Coast, Noosa, Gympie and northern Moreton Bay, normally the next business day for daily service areas. Rural, range and island areas are delivered on their set service days.
- Proof of delivery. Every delivery is scanned with a GPS and time stamp, so you can see exactly when it arrived.
How much does it cost to send a pallet from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast?
The price depends on the number of pallets, their size and weight, the delivery suburb and whether a tailgate is needed. Because every pallet is different, we quote each job individually rather than publishing a flat rate. Regular senders and account customers receive preferential pricing.
